We say
Is this the perfect trail bike for the UK? Maybe. 160mm travel front and 142mm rear, with active but supportive DW-Link suspension. Dependable specification, with all the right bits in all the right places.
Modern reach and bottom bracket heights (47cm and 66 degrees in the low position on a large).
They say:
The Pivot Switchblade 29 Pro with Shimano XT and XTR is a modern blend of trail and enduro geometry that gives versatility to a bike that is as capable on the trails as it is in the bikepark.
The ultra-light hollow core carbon frame pushes the limits of versatility, allowing you to run 29” wheels, 27.5” wheels or a mullet setup without concession, thanks to the flip chip’s adjustable geometry design. Whether your thing is riding downhill or on the trails, or somewhere in between, you’ll find the switchblade pushes the performance envelope further than ever before.
With its super boost plus 157 spacing, achieved through short chainstays, a stiff frame and rigid super boost plus hubs, with wider flanges that promote spoke tension and wheel stiffness, the switchblade will offer impressive tyre clearance and mud shedding.
When you’re tackling technical trails, you’ll be glad of the dw-link™ suspension that limits suspension bob for more control and gives greater confidence to tackle big jumps, while also improving your traction. Pivot has also shortened, straightened and steepened the seat tube of the switchblade to allow longer travel dropper posts that inspire confidence on steep descents.
The Fox factory Float X shock offers 142mm of travel for traction on the climbs, aided by the XT m8100 groupset that gives you excellent and efficient shifting as the terrain flows and changes. Braking is taken care of by Shimano XT m8120 4-piston brakes, and with their high spec finish, a great braking performance is guaranteed.
Up front, the switchblade is fitted with Fox factory 36 Grip2 fork. With its 44mm offset, superior high and low speed compression and rebound adjustability, it offers an impressive 160mm of travel for control on rocky descents.
The wheels contribute to this all-encompassing performance. Thanks to the handy flip chip, which works to adjust the height of the bottom bracket, you can opt for a stable 29” wheel or a more manoeuvrable 27.5” wheel for technical trails, or perhaps even a mullet setup for the best of both worlds.
The bike comes fitted with tubeless compatible alloy DT Swiss xm1700 wheels that have an impressive strength to weight ratio and are ready for anything you might throw at them. These are paired with a Maxxis Minion DHF and DHR.
All these features add up to make the Pivot Sitchbladewitchblade a bike that has the versatility to handle whatever terrain you ride on. Whether you’re racing enduro or exploring flowing trails, the dw-link™ suspension, blended with the switchblade geometry, will give you a unrivalled performance that will inspire you to ride harder than ever before.
